My Life.....It's an Update

Cajun Man has been home a lot more lately. He's returned to his law enforcement position in our little hometown and while everyone kept warning me of how hard it would be with a kid, it's been bliss. I realize, it's only been a month, but it's been a good month.

Most days, Daddy gets four or five hours of good time with Cajun Boy {ie minimal screaming, whining, crying or ignoring - notice I didn't say NO, I said MINIMAL}.

We are grateful for this opportunity. No more commute to work. No more huge gas bill. Believe it or not, the rotating schedule fits so well in our life right now. I knew there was a reason CB was a night owl - just took awhile to figure it out!

PLUS....while CM is a sheriff's deputy, I know I'm safe. I know that he knows who the bad guys are and if I need to know something, he will tell me. I have complete confidence in our tiny town's law enforcement and also in the fact that we live in the middle of nowhere, but there are few people that I trust my life and the safety of my family with. I'm related to every single one of them. The first by marriage - thanks for keeping us safe, honey! The rest by blood - we sure know how to handle a firearm. It's a pre-requisite to being born to the 'Hunter' Family.

With all of this extra time, though, Hubby dearest is making up for lost time.

Today, I found our toy snake under my pillow twice.

I looked out the window while doing dishes and saw Cajun Boy soaked to the skin {socks and shoes included} putting out fires all over our yard {a few too many episodes of Fireman Sam at our house} with the garden hose.

During Family Home Evening with another cute family in our ward, he introduced her three kids to the chemical reaction that baking soda has with vinegar and of course we have to add a little food coloring.

Said family has already been invited over for a Mentos/Diet Coke Fountain Competition Night.

The "Woo-Woo Truck" is the topic of almost every conversation. Followed with "Gotta Go. Gotta Go to Grandpa's House. Drive Grandpa Tractors." Sorry Grandma's - number one has been taken over by a Sheriff's Deputy Daddy and a Farmer Grandpa aka "Si-weeeeee Grandpa."

A remote control "Woo-Woo Car" was found for cheap at a garage sale and now repeatedly runs over my toes.

I have to count to ten, thirty, fifty or whatever random number makes me feel calm multiple times a day.

The number of dirty dishes and laundry seems to be exploding exponentially.

We watch a lot of Fireman Sam because so far there isn't a Policeman Dave {or whatever}.

The lights on the "Woo-Woo Truck" wink at us every day when Daddy leaves his meal break.

But most of all?

We're happy. We laugh more. We're together more. We are the better for it.
