Homemade Root Beer Recipe

Homemade Root Beer
1 gallon water
2 3/4 c. granulated sugar
1/5 bottle of Root Beer Extract
1 lb. dry ice

Put 1/2 gallon water in container plus sugar and extract. Add dry ice. Put top on. Pour water in opening. Let bubble until it stops. The dry ice cools and carbonates to make a delightful drink.

1 Deep Thoughts:

My 10-yr-old has to make root beer for a science project and we came across your recipe. Laughing because when I saw the name of your blog, because I thought, "That is such a Mormon phrase." Low and behold, you ARE a member of the church! We also "belong!"

OK, so the question is this: Did you ever try to make root beer with yeast? I have read too many recipes at this point! I am even having trouble trying to find dry ice. No issues with expansion or explosions with the dry ice, right? I have a 2 gallon glass container that I am thinking about using for this. What sort of container did you use when you made your root beer?

thanks. I saw that you had TX Sheet Cake on your blog. My best friend here in TX is from KS and she also makes TX Sheet Cake. Funny.
